Urge the Nelson Family to send Raymond’s Mother, Meagan Murphy- pictures and/ or call her

Meagan did not want to give up her parental rights to Raymond, her son born March 9, 2007. Meagan’s family was unsupportive of her keeping Raymond given her past history of relapse. However, Meagan had to move out from her mother’s home when she was 16 because her mother was emotionally abusive. After Meagan had Raymond, she gained a proven history of attending mass regularly and continuing her sobriety, which she was able to commit to since age 17. Meagan was in a state of shock in February 2011, fearing that she was being stalked. All of Raymond’s needs were being met at the time. She was using no drugs or alcohol, had no boyfriend, regularly took Raymond to the park and took him to the doctor as needed. Raymond was given a safe, happy home. When Meagan felt she was being stalked she panicked and went to the police station. She told the police she felt she was being stalked by some sort of gang because of her brief relapse in Las Vegas, when she became pregnant with Raymond. The police took her to the hospital as a schizophrenic, she did not resist going at all. Raymond was removed from her at the police station. DHS decided that because of this one incident, Meagan was too unstable and too schizophrenic and paranoid to care for her son. Her parental rights were terminated three months later. Since then Meagan secured SSI and SSDI which has lessened her anxiety a lot because working full time has always been difficult due to feeling overwhelmed. DHS had never previously helped her to secure SSDI which would have empowered her as a mother. Meagan has stopped taking the medicine for schizophrenia since December 2012. She only takes medicine for anxiety. She has received cognitive therapy for the feelings of being stalked and has found places to talk about this openly without feeling deeply condemned. Because of this therapy of talking without being judged as schizophrenic the feelings have lessened a lot in severity and frequency. She has obtained safe and secure housing and support groups, and even multiple art scholarships in a city she had never lived in before and knew no one prior to arriving. She has successfully secured a support network other than her “family” in Iowa who reported to DHS Meagan was a hopeless schizophrenic that expedited the termination of her parental rights. Meagan has secured support at alcoholics Anonymous, Saint James Cathedral, Gage Academy of Art, Pratt School of Art, city hall, Seattle Athletic Club, and various other places that have seen her regularly for over three years in some cases.
DHS did not give Meagan the correct therapy or diagnosis, and if they more accurately served her neither she nor Raymond would have undergone the horrible trauma of being separated. The signature below and in what context you know Meagan is in hope that Raymond’s adoptive family will send Meagan pictures of her beloved son as they originally promised her in 2011 when she met them at the DHS courthouse. Sharon told her she would send Meagan pictures and has not once done so. Meagan would like to see a bridge of communication open up between her and the Nelson family. She wants only happy, upbeat conversations about her child whom she continues to love and is so very proud of! By telling the Nelson family how you know Meagan and in what context, Meagan is hoping to shed light on who she really is so that the Nelson family will see how lucky Raymond is to have a birth mom like Meagan.
