Hunt Valley Baptist plans to build a 1,000 seat 30,000 sq. foot megacomplex with 300 parking spaces on Shawan Road and a 105 foot tower, at the head of the Worthington Valley. This is agricultural country that must be protected. Speak out now against this industrial use of this cherished Maryland icon.

Dear Sirs/Madam:

I am writing this letter to express my strong objection to the Petition of Hunt Valley Baptist Church to construct a mega-church complex at 821-823 Shawan Road. This area is zoned rural and must remain rural. Hunt Valley Baptists' plans include a 30,000 square foot complex with 1,000 seats, two parking lots with 300 parking spaces and a 105 foot tower completely out of keeping with the historic countryside surrounding it. All this means traffic, pollution and runoff at the gateway to the Worthington Valleys and Baltimore County's iconic countryside. We must preserve this area for future generations.

Beyond the desecration of the countryside, I am also concerned about the impact of the church's 24-hour activities on the community. A church complex for 900 to 1000 people will be a seven-day a week operation.

The master plan for Baltimore County has designated this area as rural. It is not supposed to be developed.

Thank you for your attention to this and I hope that you will deny the Petition of Hunt Valley Baptist Church.

Sincerely yours,
