We are signing this Petition In favour of Bill M214-2012:
STANDARDS OF CARE FOR BREEDERS OF COMPANION ANIMALS.

This bill will ensure the safety of companion animals and will go a long way to decrease the number of backyard breeders and puppy mills by ensuring adequate nourishment, bedding and socialization, and that they receive proper health care and are not homed before 8 weeks.

Breeders opposed to this bill say that it is these regulations that encouraged the Pit Bull ban. It is quite the opposite. Pit Bulls were inbreed to create a fighting dog - if breeders had been regulated properly at that time, the Pit Bull would not exist and we would not have the problem of docile family pets being destroyed.

Breeders opposed to this bill say an unwarranted amount of money will be spent investigating reports of a dog seen in a yard that looked like it had a docked tail or cropped ears. These claims should be investigated. Docking and cropping to create an aestheticly pleasing dog is disgusting, as is breeding an animal to have particular characteristics.

Breeders opposed to this bill say Bill M 214-2012 is an infringement of rights for both Breeder and Pet owner, but it is not about them, it is about the animals.

Bill M214-2012 is the first step towards controlling breeding and protection our companion animals.
