Congress: Save Lives with International Assistance

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provides necessary and timely action in developing countries.

The international assistance provided by USAID — which constitutes less than one percent of US spending — promotes health, education, economic opportunity and freedom. It also promotes peace and stability in countries where extreme poverty and strife can lead to conflict and violence. In Bangladesh alone, USAID has prevented the death of an estimated 10 million people through its oral rehydration salt program.

However, this program is vastly underfunded given the scale of global health, food and water crises worldwide. With its small budget it has been able to do so much already. With more funding it could save so many more lives.

In this time of creeping US nativism and isolationism, you can show that we are a global people, standing together with one another to ensure long-lasting and sustainable solutions to advance access to vital health services, food, water and economic opportunity for people around the world who need it most.

Sign today to tell Congress to boost funding to USAID. By signing today you are sending a strong message that lives all over the world matter.

To Members of the US Congress,

As a person who cares deeply about the wellbeing of all global citizens, I call upon you to increase funding to USAID.

USAID has accomplished many things in the last 50 years and in order to meet the continuing challenges of global health, food and water security and sustainable development their budget must be increased.

I call upon you to double the current funding so that USAID can continue to make a difference. If this funding happens, the US will be a global leader in humanitarian aid and help bring a better quality of life to so many suffering people.
