En el año 2007, Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, un supuesto artista, tomó a un perro abandonado de la calle, lo ató a una cuerda cortísima en la pared de una galería de arte y lo dejó allí para que muriera lentamente de hambre y sed.
In 2007, Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, a so called artist, took an abandoned dog from the streets, tied him to a very short rope to a wall in an art gallery and left him there to slowly die of hunger and thrist.
Durante varios días, el autor de semejante crueldad y los visitantes de la galería de arte presenciaron impasibles la agonía del pobre animal. Hasta que finalmente murió de inanición, seguramente tras haber pasado por un doloroso, absurdo e incomprensible calvario.
During several days, the author of such cruelty and the visitors of the gallery of art watched the agony of this animal. Until the dog finally died of famine, surely after a painful, absurd and incomprehensible torture.
¿Te parece fuerte? Pues eso no es todo: la prestigiosa Bienal Centroamericana de Arte decidió, incomprensiblemente, que la salvajada que acababa de cometer este sujeto era arte, y Guillermo Vargas Habacuc ha sido invitado a repetir su cruel acción en dicha Bienal en 2008.

Starving a dog to death is felony animal cruelty. Tolerating this and calling it art is to become accomplices to the crime. This is not art, it is crime, and the act of a criminal, not an artist. This act is totally sick and would be a criminal offence in most countries. It has absolutely no place in society, it is not in any way art and anyone who stood by and didn't help this dog should be ashamed of themselves. They should be ashamed for even thinking about repeating it. I suggest they change the plan and ask the so called artist to chain himself to the wall with no food and water. Now that really would be art!

How could a human torture a dog like that. That artist is horrible and any person that watched the exhibit are horrible people too. Hi, I don't know what to say. I was sickened to the point of my stomache turning when I heard this. This is not art, this is sadistic cruelty. Why anyone would do this is obvious, for money, and they are sick. Why anyone would want to watch this animal, caring, amazing, loving creature die and be amazed, they are just as cruel and sadistic as the so called artist. This is more like a snuff film, which still sell. Innocent animals, they are innocent, and they rely on humans for love caring and companionship. They the animals have more love and caring and compasion in their hearts than humans, they give us more than most of ever give them. This is incredibly wrong, and should not be allowed. It is bad enough, but how do we know, only one dog has died from this insane act, how many others have died thru this useless act. I don't think this should just be a boicot against Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, the prestigious Centralamerican Biennial of Art is not a prestigious organization at all, they are all murderers, is that allowed? if you can't murder a human being withought being sent to jail for life or being executed, then it is o.k. to murder an innocent animal? I think Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, the prestigious Centralamerican Biennial of Art should, anyone who was amazed and fascinated by this act should be tied up naked with a short chain around their neck in the same art gallery, put on display and left to die of starvation and dehydration, would that be called art? No. Death by dehydration is far much worse than death by starvation. These sick twisted people who can not get away with the "pleasure" of killing humans, so they take to killing innocent animals and call it art. This should not just be boicoted, it should and must be stopped.

This is insane. As a dog owner, I know that I considered my dog Max to be a member of my family. I could not sit by and see a member of my family tortured like that. I notice that you say the dog was abandoned, as if that somehow makes it alright. So would this 'art' be alright if it used a homeless person...as that person has also been abandoned!!!

If this fellow wanted to draw attention to starving stray dogs, then a photo / video documentary or painting series would have been perfect. However those things require talent, something only real artists have. This is just another example of some unsuccessful 3rd rate wannabe-artist hiding behind the "thinking outside of the box" excuse to do something stupid and masquerade it as art. If this guy tried to put something like this in my gallery, he'd be out on his 3rd-rate ass in no time. Probably in the backseat of a police car too. It's foolish to think that this kind of stuff is art and art patrons have a right to speak out against it. Art would have been a daily photo gallery of the dog over a year of nursing it back to health, not a few days of it dying. At least on the street it had the chance of finding food & continuing its existence. Guillermo Vargas Habacuc is no artist. He's a cruel, uncreative fraud and any art director of even modest renown could see that.
