Demand Henderson State University Board of Trustees Take Action on Faculty Vote of No Confidence

At their regular scheduled meeting on Friday, May 18, 2018, the Henderson State University Board of Trustees, hereafter referred to as The Board, was presented with a vote of no confidence in the present administration of Henderson State University by all tenured faculty of the University. That majority vote called for a one year provisional contract for President Glendell Jones, the immediate dismissal of all three Vice Presidents (Dr. Steve Adkison, Dr. Brett Powell, and Ms. Jennifer Boyett), along with the full reinstatement of all seven laid off staff members and two cut programs.
The aforementioned vote was a considered, deliberate response to budget cuts and the severe financial mismanagement that led to them. This mismanagement crisis, and the events it caused, are of great concern to many more than just the tenured faculty.
Whereas The Board took no action on the vote of no confidence, going so far as to dismiss it as coming from "only tenured faculty," we the undersigned students, alumni, donors, community members, faculty and staff hereby demand the following action: The Board will take immediate action on the faculty resolution. If The Board does not respond in a timely manner, we will ask Governor Asa Hutchinson to dissolve The Board and install a board who will act with integrity on behalf of the best interests of the University and all of its constituents.
