Please sign and share this petition worldwide in an effort to ban the use of wildlife like the majestic lion for entertainment and promotional purposes throughout California and abroad. Recently, against PETA recommendations, a lion was requested to promote the opening of a new store which was disturbing and against humane society policies. Such practices is cruel and abusive to the animal’s natural care and habitat.

A lion is not meant to be in a cage or confined in order to be engaged in filming for promotional and entertainment purposes. Wildlife are not meant to be exploited and the process causes them undue stress and anxiety. Not only PETA but the HSUS of the greater California area state that these “animals are not ours to use for entertainment”, which is a motto of the animal rights organizations.

In protecting these animals from exploitation for entertainment and promotional purposes, both organizations reiterate that when big cats are used for such practices, they are typically taken from their mothers soon after birth, confined to cages and subject to training that includes electric shock and food deprivation. Additionally, in opposing these animals for circuses, television, film and commercials, the HSUS states the risk of harm to people interacting with them in a performance setting poses undue risk for all concerned. They also support the contention that wild animals such as big cats, elephants and great apes possess highly developed emotional complexity, and that their psychological and social needs are difficult to satisfy in a captive setting.

Help us to keep these gorgeous but wild animals out of the entertainment business and in their natural habitat by signing and sharing this petition on all media sites. These animals deserve to live a happy, natural life in the environment they were meant to be in, which Is not in front of cameras and around humans that confine and abuse them for monetary gain.

California Fish, Game & Wildlife Commission - With the recent issue involving a lion for promotional purposes for a new grocery store, we are asking that a ban be placed on all wild animals for any entertainment or promotional purposes. Using these animals for circuses, television, film and commercials puts them at risk of harm to people interacting with them in a performance setting and also poses undue risk for all concerned. Additionally, wild animals such as big cats, elephants and great apes possess highly developed emotional complexity, and that their psychological and social needs are difficult to satisfy in a captive setting. Using them for promotional and entertainment purposes is inhumane and needs to be banned statewide in an effort to protect them from harm, abuse, cruelty and exploitation.
