SAVE OUR BASEMENTS AND STOP FLOODING!!

All residents of 100-102nd Lafayette Street that have been impacted by continuous flooding and sewer backup issues in basements during heavy rains.

During the overnight hours of August 21, 2014 many residents were victims of sewer back ups and flooding in our basements of the 101st Lafayette block. This has been an ongoing issue and needs to be addressed immediately. Residents are consistently complaining to the City of Chicago 311 as a result of 6 heavy rains in 2014, 8 in 2013 and at least 4 occurences of 2012. This has caused many residents to consistently spend thousands of dollars repairing and replacing property and personal belongings in homes where consistent damages occur. Our homes are value to us and our lives should no longer be disrupted by the sounds of water with objects and debris floating in our basements.

We are requesting the City of Chicago fix their issues with the sewer system to resolve this problem. We are all disgusted with this issue and agree that the time is now to have a NEW SEWER SYSTEM installed on our block that does not back up into our homes.
