NO MORE AUCTIONING OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS

This petition is to cease and desist the proposed auction of the canines referred to as "The Puppy Mill Dogs." on September 28, I know I have been on a rant about the "Puppy Mill Dog" Auction. I don't apologize for my opinions. I will confess that my initial thought after hearing about "The Puppy Mill Dogs" "Auction" "Silent Online Auction" and "Highest Bidder" was "You've Got To Be Kidding Me!" I mean, this is a living, breathing creature that a new owner will have to care for for years and years. I'd feel better if there was a requirement for the owner to pass some sort of approval process to make sure that not only do they understand this isn't a gift certificate to a restaurant that they use once and forget about it. That they will need to be patient and not lose their tempers quickly. That they are the match for the dog and the dog is the match for them (dogs know where they belong the best). I'd feel better if the package included 6 weeks of training with a local, certified and positive method dog trainer. How will this happen if they are auctioned off to someone who lives hours away? Home visits that far away....how will they be handled? Who keeps up with if they are keeping them on regular vet visits? Heartworm prevention? Rabies shots updated?
On the other side of this argument, it's not as if they're just handing out a dog to whoever holds out their hand or asking people to throw a pin-pong ball into a fishbowl to order to "WIN" that auction item, bidders need to pay a minimum bid and, if I read correctly, it starts at $250.
That kind of pares down the potential bidding field to people who are willing to spend money on a dog they want. And like any silent auction, if you don't want the dog, you don't bid. I'm guessing that chances are good that they have read the list in advance and are bidding intentionally. Of course, I could be wrong. There is that risk that some irresponsible idiot who SHOULDN'T be allowed to own a dog win one. (Fighters for example)
My point is this: There are far better ways to adopt out an animal than to have an auction.
Dogs, cats and well, actually, all animals deserve to be treated with the same respect that we should be treated with. There are so many different ways to get creative and host an amazing and very successful adoption event which helps raise the money needed and adoptions are going locally so home checks, etc can be done for THE SAFETY of these animals. These animals depend on us to love them and protect them. How is auctioning off animals protecting them? Would you auction off your pet or your child just to raise funds? Than why do it to them? STOP EXPLOITING THEM!
