Canada: Publicly Denounce Kurdish Attacks on Iraqi Villages

  • by: Amelia Meister

Currently, Canada is working closely with Kurdish forces to push back ISIL in Iraq. However, new reports from Amnesty International state that our Kurdish allies are destroying entire villages inhabited by Arabs.

As allies, Canada must demand that these crimes are not to be tolerated. By publicly denouncing the attacks Canada will send a strong message to its allies that we believe in peace in the Middle East and that there are other peaceful resettlement options.

More Information:

Kurdish troops have allied with Canada and the US in their fight against ISIL in Iraq. However, due to the Hussein regime's displacement of Kurds during his reign in Iraq some Kurdish troops are taking back places they were displaced from years ago. Kurdish officials deny the claims yet countless first hand reports on the ground contradict this official response.

Despite the complexity of the situation, Canada must speak for a peaceful solution and publicly condemn any destruction of Arab villages, by Kurdish forces, in Iraq.

Sign today for peaceful solutions in Iraq.

We call on you to publicly condemn Kurdish attacks on Iraqi Arab villages. We understand that the Kurdish government has no official directives towards this destruction yet we also understand that first hand accounts are revealing the truth of the destruction.

We believe that peaceful solutions must be found in the Middle East. By publicly condemning any destruction of Arab communities we send a strong message of peaceful reconciliation for Iraq.
