The Olympic Animal Sanctuary, run by Steve Markwell, poses as a rescue organization that saves neglected, abused, and unadoptable dogs but in reality the dogs are in a state of horrible neglect in there. They are given raw animal scraps tI eat once a day rather than being fed real dog food. They are kept in dirty pens and crates and rarely if EVER taken out of them. Some of the crates are far too small for the dogs size, giving them no room to move or even stand comfortably. The dogs water is at times not refilled and some dogs have died because of this. They do not get any interaction or medical care. The barn they are kept in is filled with overwhelming odors of ammonia from the urine soaked pens and crates.
The local law enforcement and Mayor of Forks Washington have done NOTHING to address the inhumane and neglectful conditions in which these dogs live. Many of the volunteers that have worked in Olympic Animal Sanctuary have complained to authorities about these conditions with still nothing being done.
