Free Katya The Russian Bear...

I wish that I could just go there pick her and walk with her to animal sancturay and have others come with me and take the rest of the animals from that bus, they are locked in cages in a bus all winter, all summer, no vet care and hardly any human attention. Its sickening and disgusting and I wish I could help more than just a petition, e-mails and letters, But this is what we have and I need you all your help. I need you to sign, share and pass this on all over the world.

To the Russian Government - We demand that Katya be released to a sancturay so that she may be happy and cared for, respected and loved, she deserves better as do all the animals on that bus. PLEASE see to it that they are given to a good humane sancturay and show the world that you care for all animals. That you love and respect the animal of mother nature, they served you well now its time to give them a happy, safe home in a loving sancturay... The Time Is Now...

During the 1980 Summer Games, the bears were applauded by thousands at a ceremony opening the football competition in St. Petersburg, then called Leningrad. Katya also performed in two films released in the 1980s.

Since her retirement in 2009, Katya and the painted bus on which she once toured with the circus have not left a parking lot near a busy highway. The ageing bear spends the long hours jumping up and down in her cage and trying to crack the rusty metal railings with her chipped and yellowed teeth.

Dozens of other retired circus animals also live in the smelly cages placed inside the bus and a minivan parked nearby...
We ask the Russian Government to PLEASE strengthen their animal protection laws, to please take a stand and DO THE RIGHT THING, its needed NOW, not later. So I ask you all to please take a stand, PLEASE sign and share, mail and tell everyone you know. I thank you all, on behalf of all at C.O.P.E - Carers Of Planet Earth we thank you for taking a stand... Sign, share and get the word out. With respect always, James Howie, C.O.P.E...
