Repeal the Prohibition of Televised Cigarette / Tobacco Advertisement

Given the hard times tobacco companies have experienced since being targeted for federal probes in the 1990s, their revenues are down. This affects the job security of millions of Americans involved in the cultivation, advertisement, distribution and retail sales of tobacco products. To reverse the trend started by the anti-tobacco lobbies of the 1990s, we ask that tobacco companies be allowed to resume advertising on television.

It has been repeatedly alleged that television shows, movies, and video games have absolutely no impact on people's actions. If this is so, then the ban on tobacco advertising, on the books since 1971, is outmoded and basedon a false supposition.
