Make the creators of 13 Reasons Why vet the show with AFSP before airing

Isn't it time that we stop putting money in front of our children’s lives? suicide is a public health crisis. It is killing teens and young adults in staggering numbers. Beyond the obvious impact, suicide also can destroy the lives of anyone who cared about the person who has died by suicide. It is imperative we bring it out in the open and talk about it. However, this MUST be done responsibly.
It is our hope that with this petition the creators of 13 Reasons Why will sit down with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and allow them to see the show before it airs to suggest any changes needed and the creators will implement those changes. A small example is that saying ”committed suicide” is triggering and often used on TV and in movies.
Please sign this petition and hopefully, we will get enough signatures to get the attention of the network. Thank you
