The B.C. Flagging Associated was told this week that a promise made to them to double speed fines in work zones will not be honoured. This proposal to double fines in working zones could help prevent dangerous driving and injuries to flaggers.
Blair Lekstrom, the previous Transportation Minister, was working with the B.C. Flagging Associated to raise the fine. However, the new Transportation Minister, Todd Stone, is not fulfilling this agreement. Doubling the fine of speeding in work areas is important to flaggers due to their safety. As a result, flaggers may begin protesting this idea, which could slow down work.
Tell the Transportation Minister and the B.C. Government to keep the promise made by the previous Transportation Minister to help reduce dangerous driving conditions in flaggers' work areas.
