A new bill would ban most abortions in the state of Florida and would make it a felony to perform abortions.
Florida's House of Representatives recently voted yes on HB 865, the Florida for Life Act, which would make it a first-degree felony to perform or assist in performing an abortion. The bill reads, "The Legislature finds that all human life comes from the Creator, has an inherent value that cannot be quantified by man, and begins at the earliest biological development of a fertilized human egg."
The bill would only allow abortions if two separate doctors confirm, in writing, that the abortion would be "necessary to save the pregnant woman's life or avert a serious risk of substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily function of the pregnant woman other than a psychological condition."
This bill endangers the physical and emotional well-being of women who choose not to carry their pregnancies to term, and it goes against the First Amendment and Roe v. Wade. Please sign the petition to urge Florida legislators to vote "no" on this bill!
