Don't Kill Wolves and Bears Over Reindeer Pate!

Dozens of wolves, lynx and brown bears are being killed in legalized hunts to protect reindeer herds destined to be made into expensive pate. The pate, which comes in cans labeled "relative of Rudolf," will be sold for over $30 in a posh London store.

Wolf hunting was banned in Sweden in 1964 when the species faced extinction, but it was reintroduced two years ago. In 2010 and 2011, hunters killed a combined 47 wolves. Last year, a pregnant wolf and her partner were gunned down by hunters in a helicopter after straying into reindeer areas. 55 bears were also slaughtered earlier this year to protect reindeer.

Wildlife groups fear that the targeted animals could face extinction if these hunts continue. Farmers can protect reindeer through other, cruelty-free methods, such as barriers. Please sign the petition to convince the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency to stop this senseless slaughter.

Dear Swedish Environmental Protection Agency,

It has come to our attention that dozens of wolves, lynx and brown bears are being killed in legalized hunts to protect reindeer herds destined to be made into expensive pate.

As you know, wolf hunting was banned in Sweeden in 1964 when the species faced extinction, but it was reintroduced two years ago.

We believe that farmers can protect reindeer through other, cruelty-free methods, such as barriers. We respectfully urge you to create legislation that would end the senseless slaughter of these beautiful animals. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
