We all know how imperative that women keep up with their health and often times it is unfortunate that the appropriate appointment times fall within work hours. Such was the case with a Ms. Jamie Crytzer who worked at the Hickory Grille and left her job to take a sudden appointment that became available for a mammogram test.
Ms. Crytzer had concerns about a lump in her breast and made an appointment for a mammogram. Of course, the woman was very worried and had to settle for the next available appointment. She was later alerted of an earlier appointment that opened up and advised her manager that she needed to make that appointment. Her manager did not take the news lightly, stating that “You’re gonna do whatever you want and this is job abandonment.” Her health was of no concern to him. It seems like, with something as serious as breast cancer, that it would be cruel to require an employee to suffer delays in a potential diagnosis.
Sometimes appointments are very difficult to get and, even though the woman had to leave on short notice, she did advise her manager and we are asking that she be reinstated to her job. She was not acting irresponsibly but out of fear for her health. Waiting could have made a huge difference in the diagnosis. Help us in reaching out to this manager by signing and sharing this petition and get this woman her job back. Work is an important priority in our lives but our health should not be disregarded as part of our jobs.
Manager of Hickory Grille in Hermitage – We encourage you to reinstate Ms. Jamie Crytzer as an employee of your establishment. Maybe she did not follow the proper protocol in such an instant but you have to understand that she was extremely concerned about a lump that could have been cancerous. In any such instance, time is of the essence. With something as serious as breast cancer, it seems cruel to require an employee to suffer delays in a potential diagnosis. Please compensate this woman for time lost and reinstate her back into her former employment status.
