Demand China stops the horror 'sport' of horses, pigs and buffalo fighting to the death

In China, male animals such as horses, pigs and water buffalo are often pitted against each other to fight to the death in front of a cheering crowd.

The horror 'sport' is particularly popular in Leishan county, Guizhou province, though it is just one of many areas in China where animals fight to the death in front of crowds.

The two desperate animals circle each other before they are forced into battle by being prodded and poked with long sticks.

The result is a bloody fight to the death with biting, kicking and rearing injuries killing some, while others simply drop dead from exhaustion.

The so called sport has been blasted by animal rights activists around the world as barbaric but locals defend it, saying it is part of their ancient traditions.

Tradition or not – it is time for it to stop.
