General Mills corporation is putting a carcinogen in the products they sell. Especially the kids cereal. We have been absentmindedly feeding our kids posion. They have been adding trisodium phosphate to their products. Here is what has been said about the issue.
“The FDA claims that Trisodium phosphate in certain amounts is not a risk in food, but some reports and agencies have deemed it a hazardous substance. The Clean Water Act has taken steps to limit the use of TSP in cleaning supplies because it damages the environment. Phosphates are required of the human body, however trisodium phosphate is an inorganic chemical phosphate. There are other organic sources of necessary phosphates that are proven to be safe and beneficial for consumption.

TSP has not been proven to be toxic to humans as a food additive, but has shown to be severely irritating to the gastric mucosa unless part of a buffered solution. Trisodium phosphate may reduce accumulation of lactic acid in muscles. Excess intake of TSP may produce an imbalance of minerals that lead to loss of calcium from bone and a calcification of the kidneys. The daily limit of trisodium phosphate is recommended to be 70mg. TSP consumed as part of a Western junk food diet sometimes reaches upwards of 500mg, which leads to an increased risk of developing osteoporosis.”
And here is a warning label for Trisodium Phosphate
WARNING

Contains Trisodium Phosphate: DO NOT take internally. All strong cleaners are irritating and may cause burns to the skin and eyes. Wear full cover eye protection, gloves and long sleeved shirt to help avoid contact with powder and solution. Watch out for splashes and overhead runs and drips and DO NOT allow solution to get into gloves or soak through shirt into skin. Thoroughly wash all contaminated clothing before use.

First Aid

If Swallowed: Promptly drink large quantities of water and call physician, hospital emergency room or poison control center for way to induce vomiting, transport to medical facility immediately.
Eye Contact: Flood with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes; get medical attention promptly.
Skin Contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and water. If redness of skin occurs, discontinue use and consult physician promptly.
So as you can see this is not a chemical we want to ingest in any way, yet they are putting it in our food for consumption. There may be only a miniscule amount in these products, however when you eat them regularly just how much do you think we are ingesting. You could eat miniscule amounts of rat poison evey day and not see the affects for years. That being said I still don't want to take the chance and have it in my kids or my own food. There is a higher rate of intestinal disease and osteoporosis now than there was 50 years ago. Although 50 years ago they wouldn't dream of putting a toxic poison in our packaged food. This needs to end! We need to stand up to these corporations and let them know we won't put up with this. So to these corporations I say STOP PUTTING TSP IN YOUR PRODUCT. This is the only solution! Please support this cause and together we can make these corporate affiliates stop poisoning people a little at a time. Thank you for your support.
