Make Jen and Jill Selter Positive Body Image Ambassadors to Counter Obesity in Women

Obesity is becoming an epidemic, especially amongst women. This petition is directed to American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) to appoint positive body image role models to combat obesity.

I, the undersigned, would like to petition the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) to make Jen and Jill Selter the positive body image ambassadors for the nonprofit. Doing so will help encourage women to exercise and fight obesity.

Obesity is fast becoming epidemic in the United States, and more so for women as females tend to be 30% more overweight compared to their male counterparts. Obesity is a serious risk factor which may bring about a slew of conditions including:
diabetes
hypertension
high cholesterol
stroke
heart disease
certain types of cancer
arthritis

According to ACOG, prevalence of obesity was higher among middle-aged adults which is approximately 39% than among younger adults. While it is certainly more difficult to fight obesity the older we are, this instance is not impossible. Jen Selter, a fitness instructor and social media celebrity with millions of Instagram followers, has proven that age is not a barrier when it comes to maintaining an optimal weight. She trained her 47-year-old mother and as a result, she now possess an enviable body that's comparable to her 21-year-old daughter's.

I urge ACOG to make the mother-and-daughter team their official positive body image ambassadors in order to fight the growing problem of obesity amongst women.

The undersigned,
Monica Lopez - Author of the book "Easy Guide to Auto Instagram Followers"
