Change PAWS Tutorials and Give Us Our Campus Back!

Due to recent a recent member of school faculty, who will remain un-named, has changed PAWS tutorials and has blocked off various areas of Parks Junior High. PAWS Tutorials shouldn't be an actual jail time. As students, we think we should want our freedom of using the campus freely (obviously with the same rules in place). Our new principal has blocked off various parts of the field area and that has limited our leisure time and things to do during lunch. My previous year at Parks was one of my favorite school years because of the campus being so big and me being allowed to use it the way it was built for. This school year with the new principal in place has restricted many things from our campus, making this school year one of my worst.

PAWS Tutorials are now more confusing! Instead of the staff making tutorials easier, they have made it more complicated and less fun. Good GPA students used to be allowed to go to the theatron for tutorials but obviously now, that has been blocked off because our new principal LOVES blocking everything and ruining the school year (in my opinion). Tutorials shouldn't be a discipline and even teachers want the new tutorials removed. Remember when our school was also on OC register? They had an article for us because we were a very open and an "open-space school model". Read some of the text from the article: -“This setup doesn’t work for everyone,” Dustin said. “But we make it work here because it encourages collaboration and keeps us on our toes.” -Parks, a campus built in the mid 1970s, was created as an “open-space school model.” The school’s main building has dozens of classrooms without doors, or even walls in some cases. -Outside, the hillside campus in western Fullerton is surrounded by scores of eucalyptus trees, spread across three terrace levels. The main building sits on the highest terrace, overlooking a second terrace filled with portable classrooms and an outdoor amphitheater. The school’s running track and baseball and soccer fields, used for the school’s sports program, rest on the lowest level. The athletics program is another strong emphasis at Parks. -“The principal and teachers really provide a good balance of giving students what they need without overwhelming them,” she said. “Because of that, our students go on to high school better prepared than other kids.”

Help us make #parksworst2years and turn it into the so-called #parksbest2years.
