STOP NORTH AVE. CHANGE FROM FOUR LANES TO TWO LANES

Who thinks like this?  - "There are more drivers so let's make less room for them."   Why when the city makes road changes do Burlington motoists lose EVERY TIME!   PLEASE ONLY SIGN PETITION IF: You live or work in North Burlington, Vermont USA

Burlington City Council has passed a measure to take the badly needed four lanes of traffic which connects North Burlington to the rest of the city and turn it into two lanes of traffic w/ bike lanes and a turn lane.  I biked over 2,000 miles this year and I am 100% against this move.   This problem could be very easily solved by paving and slightly widening the sidewalk that goes along North Ave for 1.8 miles where there are four lanes.  Even paving one side of North Ave. sidewalks would solve the problem.   There are relatively few pedestrians on these sidewalks and - as it has been done for over 25 years on the bike path - pedestrians could share the sidewalk with the bikers. They are already doing it now. It is also safer as a bike/pedestrain crash is safer than a bike/vehicle crash.   Please help stop this move.   The majority of the people voting for this move don't even live out here and will not have to sit in traffic daily.   It will also be very difficult for No. Ave. residents to get onto No. Ave. and motorists coming from the side streets onto No. Ave. with the bottle necked traffic.  Please contact your City Council member and let them know you are against this measure.
