The Creative Education Center for Orphans and Special Needs Children in Russia is under threat of closure! For many years, the Center near Moscow served children abandoned and rejected by their families and by the society. The Center of dedicated psychologists and volunteers became a rehabilitation hub – and a true home and loving community for hundreds of orphans, children with special needs and handicapped, their only connection with the outside world and their only hope for a future.

It's more than just about the Center
Center provides developmental education for orphans with special needs, facilitates religious, cultural, social and vocational education for orphans, provides advocacy for families at risk, assists adoptions of special needs children by the local Russian families, educates and influences communities with regard to the acceptance of orphans and handicapped in the society, leads powerful grassroots movement. Centers like stART are essential for new humanistic, inclusive society in Russia where the number of orphaned children is above 1 million -- their dare situation is a silent tragedy hidden from the public eyes.
Russian activists, social advocates, selfless people doing heroic work helping underpriviledged children, local religious and secular communities. All healthy and progressive forces working to save generations of Russian children despite the systemic legacy of cynicism, indifference and corruption.
Who is against?
Corrupted interests of those in the system who benefit from larger number of institutionalized children and minor inmates. Greed of those who envy the charity of local businesses going directly to the children, and would rather see it diverted for their own profit and power. Local authorities driven by conflict of interests and bureaucratic agenda intend to close the Center which became home for so many children.

Dear Mr. President,
We are concerned with the situation around the Creative Education Center for the Orphaned and Special Needs Children in the city of Yahroma, Moscow District. The Center, which for so many years provides psychological and social rehabilitation for orphaned children is under threat of closure from the local officials.
Center facilitates religious, cultural, social and professional education for orphans, provides developmental education for orphans with special needs, advocacy for orphans and families at risk, assists adoptions of special needs children by the local Russian families, educates and influences communities in regard to acceptance of orphans and handicapped in the society, leads a powerful grassroots movement uniting Christian Orthodox and secular communities. Local authorities, driven by conflict of interests and bureaucratic agenda, intend to close the Center which became home for so many children. Mr. President, Your help is needed!
The work of the Creative Education Center in Yahroma, its educational and community-building efforts are essential for the new and healthy society in Russia. I am deeply touched by the letters that children are addressing to you, Mr. President, and I join with children's plea:
“I am 13 years old. Center Start became our home. We love to come here, we see and learn so many interesting things. We are taken care of. Please help us, they want to take away from us our last treasure. The Center is all we have. Dear President, please help us. How is it even possible to take from orphans the very last that we have?”
"I learned to write here. I love to do arts and to paint. This is our home, please do not take it away from us. Please help us.”
“Dear Vladimir Putin. I am an orphan. I am studying in this Center for six years. It gave me a lot of new knowledge. We met many good people. They want to take the Center away from us. Please, help.”
Please intervene asap, please stand firmly on the side of justice and kindness. Please support the Center for orphaned children in Yahroma and help to keep its doors open. Centers like this should be supported throughout the country, for the benefit of the Russian society, and for all of us.
