Bring ‘Animal News’ Into Daily TV Broadcasts

The Daily TV News in the UK has specific sections it is required to report. Regional News, Weather, Sport, Health, Science, Politics, Technology, Environment & also Entertainment. All news is distributed in all 4 Countries of the United Kingdom, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales. All Countries have the following. Animal charities, Abattoirs, Farms, Zoo’s, Safari Parks & Animal Sanctuaries including one of the best, Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk. http://www.hillside.org.uk/

Unfortunately all 4 countries have Animal crimes that go unreported on TV but somehow available online. Facebook is constantly being promoted by everything on TV but carries Animal crime videos & more, available for all to see. If crime like this was reported instead of promoted, perhaps Mr Zuckerburg will get off his million dollar ass & do something…. Instead, it goes unreported. This is just one of the reasons Animal welfare needs more publicity. How more public can you get than a daily BBC news report?

The Local Floods of January 2014 in South East & South West England is making headline news as local farms, business & houses flood with devastating results. Reporters have been speaking to people about Loss of Power & Cost of Repair, but when speaking to Farmers, the report is only about Crop Loss & Cost. What about the Animals. ?? If Animal News was introduced it would heighten the awareness of Animals in the eyes of the public, thus creating a stepping stone into the future of Animal Welfare. In fact the only animal News to be reported in the last 10 months has been The Badger Cull which caused a public outcry. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-25815161

More recently, the topic of the Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi is currently all over the news and is ignoring certain elements that must be addressed...

Killer whales snared by hunters put on display at Sochi Winter Olympics http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/winter-olympics-killer-whales-sochi-3012316

Even more recent is the death of Marius the Giraffe. The Copenhagen Zoo that has caused trending outrage on social media sites such as Care2 by killing a healthy Giraffe and then feeding its flesh to other animals. http://canadajournal.net/world/marius-giraffe-killed-feeds-body-lions-3804-2014/

Animal Rescue, Centres & Homes charities http://www.charitychoice.co.uk/charities/animals/animal-rescue-centres-and-homes

The British Services website has an Animal Welfare Section among many that are already a daily topic in news broadcasts all over the country. Site located at http://www.britishservices.co.uk/animalwelfare.htm

The BBC & Sky have more than enough information & sources at hand to create an individual section about Animal News just like the Sports or Weather sections. There are hundreds of reporters in the UK and currently none of them cover Animal Welfare. It’s time to change the news as we shape our future. Give animals their own news section.

Dear BBC We the undersigned would like to propose you add Animal News to the already expanding list of topics, reported in daily broadcasts. If an Animal News segment was introduced it would heighten the awareness of Animals in the eyes of the public, thus creating a stepping stone into the future of Animal Welfare, and could also stop animal related crimes & see their abuser brought to justice. I refer you to the Daily Mail report in September 2010 ‘Bank clerk who dumps cat in wheelie bin, Charged with animal cruelty’ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1313657/Cat-bin-woman-charged-Mary-Bale-accused-animal-cruelty.html This woman was successfully charged as a direct result of publicity through TV news broadcasts, but sadly more happen everyday & go unreported.

There are a number of factors that can be addressed such as, how Sanctuaries cope, recent RSPCA reports. Cruelty crime. There are also many stories about Animal rescues, Adoptions & Pets that have a lighter hearted look on animals. As with any other news report, you will have good & bad but the fact that it’s being acknowledged would be a major start. Please take the necessary steps and consider placing ‘Animal news’ as a separate topic or with the daily reports every hour. We thank you for your time & attention & look forward to your response.
