Texas Reinstate Funding for Medicaid Recipients Utilizing Planned Parenthood

  • by: Lucio Ortega Jr
  • recipient: Governor Greg Abbott, Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Cornyn , Rep. Filemon Vela

The State of Texas has recently voted to not pay for services, provided by Planned Parenthood to Texas Medicaid recipients. In order to qualify for Medicaid, you must meet income requirements. The cap on income is $700 or less per month. As you can tell, women utilizing Planned Parenthood fall below the poverty level. It is a necessary resource for Medicaid recipients who would not otherwise receive health services. It is ironic that the Texas Governor states "“Texas has stepped forward and shown its unyielding commitment to both protecting life and providing women’s health services,” When in fact, he is doing just the opposite by choosing not to pay for Planned Parenthood services to Texas Medicaid recipients.

Good evening guys, his petition seems to have stalled. So, instead of waiting until the end of December, I will be closing it in two weeks. I am already drafting a letter to the Governor of Texas, Senators, Cornyn, Cruz, and Rep Vela. In the news, HB2, is going up to a legal challenge in the Supreme Court. If it does not go our way, abortion will be deemed illegal in all 50 states.
