USDA: Stop Approval for Dow's GMO Agent Orange Crops!

  • by: Kristi Arnold
  • recipient: President Barack Obama, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Krysta Harden

The USDA may give the green-light for new GMO crops engineered by Dow Chemical.

The USDA said that Dow's new GMO crops "may significantly affect the quality of the human environment" but now appears ready to green-light the crops for widespread distribution on farms throughout the United States.

The result would be a crop of plants that resists toxic chemicals that kill weeds, encouraging farmers to use more toxic substances that will leach into drinking water and soil, and spur resistance in weeds that will make them even more hard to root out. Plus, the herbicide that would be used on them is one of the components of Agent Orange.

The USDA opened a 45-day comment period January 10. You have until February 24 to let your voice be heard! Sign the petition now to tell the USDA to stop approval for Dow's GMO!
