Ellen G. White says in her book The Great Controversy:
"Christians are making a great deal of Lent and Easter and church ornamentation. It is the old trick of Satan. The Jewish church struck on that rock; the Romish church was wrecked on the same; and the Protestant is fast reaching the same doom.

We are requesting that you send this petition to your Northern California friends, asking that they sign this petition to demand that the Northern California Conference remove Dan Appel from his role at the Auburn Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Historically, the Catholic Church would bring in traditions like lent for the purpose of community outreach which eventually corrupted the church. For example: While trying to evangelize the Sun Worshipers, the Catholic Church made an innocent gathering on Sunday to worship God. Today, we have the majority of Christian people whom are certain that the Day of the Lord is Sunday.

The writings of Ellen G. White tell us that this ecumenical movement would happen in the future. We want to love all Catholics, but we never want to bring any sympathy to their Catholic beliefs and traditions. If we do this, members that are weak or new in the SDA faith, may see it as harmless to attend services that teach false doctrine and learn from their pulpits. We know that these churches have fallen and their "truths" contain a lot of error that can lead to everlasting death. Clever demons have an agenda and we don't want to play into their subtle plan.

We never want to allow another preacher to preach from our pulpits because they could subtly influence our weaker or newer members and bring error into our church which may destroy many of them and their friends in the last days. It's a pastor's job to teach what he believes is true. If any pastor or clergy-man has an opportunity to speak to people that don't believe the same things as him, the preacher will craft a way to teach his beliefs, albeit subtle, to those that do not believe in the same way. Teaching is a preacher’s job, they look for what people need to know, and teach it.

Embracing a Cathlic preacher as "a man of God", should be the last straw. Please sign our petition.
