Justice for Ciroc and Rocko: Fire Trigger-Happy Minneapolis Police Officer

  • by: Aaron V.
  • recipient: Acting Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo

Police officer Michael Mays entered a North Minneapolis back yard while responding to an accidentally-triggered home alarm. Once in the yard, he encountered the LeMay family's two Staffordshire terriers, Ciroc and Rocko. The officer promptly shot both dogs, which was captured by home surveillance cameras.

The officer claimed the dogs charged him, but the video shows that the officer was never threatened by the animals.

Thankfully, it appears the animals will survive, and donations have poured in to a gofundme account the family set up to help pay for the vet bills. We desperately want Ciroc and Rocko to fully recover, but we also want to make sure no other family has to be put in jeopardy by this trigger-happy cop.

Sign the petition and demand that officer Michael Mays be fired immediately, and that all Minneapolis police are better trained in how to respond to family pets.
