Demand Animal Ordinance #2064-2016 Be Repealed

The definition of civil liberty is "the state of being subject only to laws established for the good of the community". This new animal ordinance (#2064-2016) disregards civil liberties to own, shelter and save animals that would otherwise be euthanized. To say that this ordinance creates more problems than it fixes is an understatement. It generates obstacles for people who want to save animals, terminates the living made by those who breed registered and non registered animals alike, and takes away the decision to sterilize your pets all together. I urge you to sign this petition because there are good people out there that would prefer to adopt rather than buy (me being one of them) and good people that will have their living ripped from them by this ordinance because they won't be able to breed and sell pets anylonger. With freedoms and liberties becoming fewer and fewer (Obamacare comes to mind here) lets not allow a city ordinance take more away.
This new ordinance raises the cost of adopting from the City of Clovis Animal Control from $40.00-$50.00 up to $165.00. Which will no doubt decrease the amount of pets adopted from the City of Clovis Animal Control and inevitably increase the amount of animals euthanized by the City of Clovis Animal Shelter. The new ordinance also states that if your dog or cat is picked up by Animal Control and brought to the pound you will be forced to spay or neuter them unless instructed by a veterinarian otherwise. If you were thinking about breeding dogs or cats you're now only allowed to have one set of unsterilized breeder animals at a time or you will be fined, which won't make for a very efficient home business. With all of this in mind I again urge you to sign this petition so that the unjust Animal Ordinance #2064-2016 will be repealed.
