Concerned Lee Road Parents Seek Class Size Reduction in Grade 4

The class of 2026 has had many enrollment fluctuations since kindergarten. However, since the loss of a section in second grade coupled with the addition of many new students, there are now 26 children in a class. Although this is allowable according to district guidelines, we believe it is NOT an appropriate or effective learning environment for our children. According to research, students in early and later elementary grades benefit from smaller classes as evidenced by higher achievement in secondary school and beyond. The obvious benefits include greater teacher-student interaction but there are more subtle benefits such as sense of belonging and classroom engagement. Please consider our concerns as the school year will be upon us very soon!
