Home - Tip dolls

The latest of the DreamWorks movies is Home, a lovely story about an alien on the run from his own people and the human he befriends. The crux of this story is these two characters learning and growing from their friendship. The first in the supporting cast is Pig, the girl's (Tip), pet cat. All other cast are far below, supporting the storyline between these two characters. So why can't I purchase a plushie Tip doll for my granddaughter? I can purchase several different Oh dolls, and even some of the other aliens. But the main human character, Tip, can be found in one 11" doll and within a group setup of the entire cast. Seriously? Why would the company not market the adorable, very realistic, Caribbean lead? Elsa is a coward most of the movie with Anna being the hero but you can purchase either of them in innumerable types, plastics, plushies and sizes. As well as Olaf, Kristov, Prince Han, etc. There are tons and tons of political reform that needs to take place but this is a tiny thing that we can do today. Please consider signing this petition in order to get the attention of the bankrollers and marketers so that we can show our children the beauty of diversity.

**ADDITION: I can preach about the significance of having all people represented, about the glaringly obvious choice to avoid marketing Tip, or even about the insidious belief that seems to go on that brown kids will not draw the merchandise money even thought Doc McStuffins and Dora have blown that belief completely out of the water. What I would rather say is that I am a white woman, raising a white granddaughter who loved this character. If we are to change the future of race relations, isn't this one of the most simple ways to begin - by allowing one child to relate to another, regardless of color? By encouraging all to find the similarities and rejoice in the differences? And what message is our culture sending to this four year old that Elsa and Anna can be found anywhere in thousands of ways, but Tip is available in 2 forms? Actions speak louder than words and the value, or lack thereof, placed on Tip is resounding. Please consider sharing this.

Dear DreamWorks,

Home is a fabulous movie with adorable and believable characters. The animation on Tip is particularly amazing. Unfortunately, there are two ways to purchase Tip and the single doll does not have the same level of detail.

We enjoyed the movie and want to do the same thing with Tip's character as we do with any other: have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in this character.  There is no fabric, bedding, home decor (lamps, night lights, etc), with Tip. There are more opporunities to purchase Oh, but even those are significantly less than many kid movie characters.

Tip is an immigrant from the Caribbean who could not be more adorable, intelligent and strong willed. The evolutionary relationship between Tip and Oh is awesome and offers such great life lessons. What an amazing role model for any little girl!

Please reconsider marketing this character for all the reasons posted above and so very many more.

Thank you in advance for your time.
