Protect the Sumatran Tiger from Extinction

The Sumatran tiger is in danger of becoming extinct. According to Sciencedaily.com, this native Indonesian tiger is threatened by deforestation and the loss of thick plantation near the ground. In a new study, researchers found that the loss of thick plantation near the ground is catastrophic for tigers as they use this cover to stalk and catch their prey.

With less than 30 percent of the Sumatran tigers' habitat located in protected areas, these tigers' chance of survival is dwindling as more and more forests and plantations in Indonesia are being cleared. Add this with the fact that there are only approximately 400 Sumatran tigers left and you have a very bleak looking future for these gorgeous and precious animals.

Tell Indonesia that this is unacceptable and they must do more to protect Sumatran tigers.

We the undersigned sincerely ask the government of Indonesia to do more to protect and preserve Sumatran tigers. As there are only approximately 400 left, they are dangerously close to becoming extinct. Their chances of survival are further reduced because of the amount of forests and land that is being cleared. Tigers depend on forests and near ground brush and thick plantations for protection and to catch their prey. Without the appropriate forests and plantations, the population of Sumatran tigers will continue to decline.

Sumatran tigers must be supported and protected by having more of their habitat protected to ensure their survival. Please do everything you can to help them as their very existence is being threatened.

Thank you.
