Demand a NO vote on the renewal of Vincent Colaluca's contract as Superintendent.

Over Vincent Colaluca's 7 year tenure as Superintendent of ALSD, the morale of staff, employees, and parents involved in the district has deteriorated substantially, and the overall quality and performance of the district itself has declined. A large exodus of teachers and other faculty has taken place, and the ODE report card grade has dropped to an F, an all-time low.

To provide further evidence for the validity of this petition, consider the following facts and statistics.

Four years ago, there were 134 resident students who attended school districts other than Austintown. Today, that number has more than doubled, with 340 resident students attending outside school districts.

Open Enrollment, originally proposed as a selective program, has grown from 435 students four years ago to 794 today.

In the past three years, over fifty teachers and other faculty members have resigned, twenty alone during this school year, including the Transportation Director, Coleen Murphy-Penk, who had worked in the district for over twenty years.

Another noteworthy point is that Vincent Colaluca does not reside in Austintown, living rather in Boardman. Our Superintendent should reside in Austintown, looking out for himself and the best interest of other Austintown residents. Every change that Mr. Colaluca has made affects our community, but does not affect his own. We need someone who will bring our community together; staff, students, and parents.

This petition proposes that the School Board votes against renewing Vincent Colaluca's contract for another term of any length, asking instead that a new superintendent whose leadership and management ability has been proven to be in the best interests of the students and the community be selected instead.
