Accountability for First Student Transportation

My four year old son is on the Autism spectrum. He attends an amazing program at Manchester High School and has an amazing teacher who cares deeply for her students. This petition is in no way about the education he receives or the care he receives from his teacher or his para-educators.

In the past years he has had at least four separate occasions where he has been OVER 1-2 hours late being dropped off to his daycare when leaving school. No phone call from the town, no call from the bus company just my child on a bus somewhere in Manchester. His daycare is amazing at calling me once it reaches 4 pm. That's right 4 pm, five children on a bus and school gets out at 2:37 and my son is on the bus till about 3:30-4pm daily. It is a broken system that needs to be fixed. As a working parent I have few other choices but to send him on a bus as is the way with many other parents.
I want the following changes for Manchester children:

1) Parents should be able to speak to the bus drivers when they are late via radio (patch them in) so that we can know where they are and or lend help if necessary.
2) GPS should be able to locate buses carrying out children to see where they are.
3)Each bus should have a camera.                                                   4) Parents should be able to meet their children's bus drivers and give them important information about drop off and pick up.

I do not have the luxury of not working and bringing my child to and from school. We are allowed to meet those who educate our children and call to speak to them if there is an issue. But not to those who DRIVE our children to and from school? Change needs to happen and safety and communication should be this companies number one concern!
