Pete Rose bet on baseball as a player - keep him out of the Hall of Fame!

In March, Pete Rose made a formal request that baseball's new commissioner let him back into baseball, and many fans took his side. Sure, he bet on the game as a coach, they say, but he never bet against his own team and he never bet as a player!

Breaking news from ESPN shows that Rose DID bet on the Reds as a player in 1986, and he's been lying about it ever since.

MLB must keep Pete Rose's lifetime ban in place! Sign the petition to MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and Hall of Fame Chairman Jane Forbes Clark!

It's always been important to keep Rose out of the Hall. He broke ethical rules, and that sets the wrong example for high school players. It took him years to apologize and even now he's not sincere. And even if he didn't bet ON the Reds, how do we know he didn't make decisions during a Tuesday game with Wednesday's game in mind, like when to send in a pitcher?

Plus, as legendary Brewers infielder and Twins manager Paul Molitor said, "The one rule that is read in every clubhouse, every spring training, for I don't know how many decades, has been made clear that, if this is violated, this is the consequence. Now, if they decide to make a change in the stance that they've taken to this point, you are going to say that every time we read that, we really didn't mean it."

Getting more hits than anyone else shouldn't allow a celebrity to get away with breaking the rules. Sign the petition today to keep Pete Rose OUT of the Hall of Fame!

Dear Commissioner Manfred and Chair Clark,

Please do not lift the lifetime ban on Pete Rose, or allow him entry into the Hall of Fame! The recent revelation that he bet on baseball as a player and has LIED about it for 30 years is all the proof we need to keep the bans in place.

The recent news just serves to strengthen an already ironclad case. Rose broke ethical rules, and that sets the wrong example for high school players. It took him years to apologize and even now he's not sincere, as those TV shoe commercials show. And even if he didn't bet ON the Reds as a manager, how do we know he didn't make decisions during a Tuesday game with Wednesday's game in mind?

Getting more hits than anyone else shouldn't allow a celebrity to get away with breaking the rules. Please stay the course and keep Pete Rose out of baseball and out of the Hall of Fame!
