Tell Miami-Dade, Florida to Get Educated and Drop BSL!
In Miami-Dade, Florida, it is illegal to own a pit bill. As most of us know, BSL has been proven misguided. Generally, when pits attack, it is because they have been taught to attack. Miami-Dade.gov starts off their webpage by stating, "It is illegal in Miami-Dade County to own or keep American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, or any other dog that substantially conforms to any of these breeds' characteristics". This ambiguity in the wording of the law leads to non-pits being taken from owners and owners fined.
There is no reason pits should be banned. Across the county, ordinances are dropping their BSL as people become more educated about these wonderful dogs. It's time for Florida to catch up with the rest of the country! Please sign and let Miami-Dade know their uneducated laws do more harm than good!
Dear Sir or Madam:
In response to the asinine pit bull legislation in Miami-Dade, I have composed a petition which has been signed by numerous people. If you research American BSL (breed-specific legislation), you will see that some states have instituted bans against BSL and that most states have overturned their BSL.
Pit bulls are only dangerous when they are taught to be dangerous. Like any dog, they crave love and attention. Should a dog be penalized for wanting to be loved?
It's time for ALL of Florida to join the rest of the country and get educated about pit bulls. Please overturn your BSL!
