Gender Equality Dress Code For Female Students Of Mattacheese Middle School

On multiple counts these past couple weeks, female students of Mattacheese Middle School have been dress coded for some unreasonable reasons! Taking a young women out of her classes just because her her collar bones are showing isn't right. Many times these young students are told "You're distracting other students with your outfit or hair dye", how are we supposed to express ourselves when we're being sexualized by our teachers? Firstly, you shouldn't be sexualizing young women. Us young girls of Mattacheese Middle school cannot wear leggings, ripped jeans, sweatpants, shirts that show collarbones, or even shorts without being told that's inappropriate or worrying about being dress coded. It's not like we're wearing booty shorts or bikinis to school. Our bodies are curved, our bodies need to wear clothes, too. What do we have left to wear? Khakis? A trash bag? This is inflicting with us girls' education. Missing school, because I was wearing sweatpants? We deserve equality and we deserve it now. You're telling young girls that hiding our bodies is more important than our educations. You are telling us that we have to make sure boys have a distraction-free learning environment is more important than their own education. Equality? I think not. We deserve human rights. You're telling us the young men who are enrolled in this school are entitled to an education than us. Not acceptable. We are not objects. You can't control what we wear. Teach people to respect us and not to feel like they need to sexualize our bodies. We are as entitled to wear our own clothes our families bought for us just as much as the young men are of our school. Sign this petition if you agree with us. Ask us questions if you need to be clarified. -Angelina,Sarafina,Madison
