We have promoted several petitions in an effort to save the nightingale from extinction but a new development is now putting this bird in danger. One of the best sites in Britain for protecting this beautiful bird known as the Lodge Hill in Medway, Kent which is under threat of destruction. Please sign and share this petition worldwide in an effort to urge the UK not to destroy Lodge Hill and put these birds at risk for extinction due to loss of their favored habitat.

The nightingale is in grave danger of endangerment and extinction throughout the UK, especially with the recent proposal to destroy a very popular habitat favored by these songbirds, Lodge Hill in Medway, Kent in the UK. This beautiful bird is known as the “light-winged Dryad of the trees” with a harmonious voice but the destruction of this development could cause an irreparable blow to the nightingale in the UK. “Lodge Hill is the only Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in the UK that is specifically set up to protect nightingales,” as stated by a spokesperson for the RSPB. They state further that “It is the most important site for the birds in the UK. Yet the local council want to build 5,000 homes there. It would absolutely destroy the site and the birds’ homes, and send a very worrying signal about the prospects of protecting other critically important sites in the UK."

The numbers of these birds has declined drastically in the past 40 years and building all these homes in the area where the nightingale flourishes will cause an even greater decline. The bird is now on the amber list of species of “conservation concern". Giving go-ahead for the housing project “would threaten the wider environment and wildlife networks in which we have a deep interest in terms of protecting the nation’s special places for ever, for everyone, including the endangered nightingale.”

Please help us in our efforts to protest the building of these homes in this area that is so crucial to the existence and major habitat of the beautiful nightingale; sign and share this petition worldwide on all media sites. Protect the nightingale from extinction. Officials and Developers for the Lodge Hill at Medway, Kent in the UK - Please reconsider destroying Lodge Hill and putting up all these houses. The nightingale is in grave danger of extinction in the UK and proceeding with this project will wipe out their existence completely, since this is a major habit for the birds. Protect the nightingale by saving the last known natural habitat that they are used to; build elsewhere and preserve Lodge Hill as it is for these birds and other natural wildlife it houses.
