Tell Maryland Governor Hogan: Restore Funding for Behavioral Health Care!

Marylanders affected by mental health and substance use disorders must have high quality and accessible services to meet their needs. Despite the growing need, Maryland has cut its behavioral health budget three times since January, totaling $23 million. We need our elected leaders to stand up for vulnerable Marylanders – not try to balance the budget on their backs.

Governor Hogan has rightfully called attention to the ongoing heroin crisis, but did not include any new funding for treatment services. Funding for providers who offer these services has remained stagnant since 2010 even as costs and need for services has risen. Tell Governor Hogan not to shut the door on Marylanders who use mental health and substance use disorder services. We must keep the door open for those who need help.

If you are a Maryland resident, please sign and share this petition now. Tell Governor Hogan and the Maryland General Assembly to "keep the door open" to every neighbor, friend or loved one who needs access to quality behavioral health care by not only restoring all behavioral health care budget cutsbut also expanding Maryland’s investment in order to meet our state’s growing needs.

Dear Governor Hogan,

There are 1 million Marylanders who need behavioral health services, but budget resources to treat them are inadequate.

Please keep the doors open to every neighbor, friend or loved one who needs quality access to behavioral health care. Please restore funding for behavioral health care.
