Tell Alabama to Strike Down Voter ID Laws After Mass DMV Closures

Alabama requires an ID to vote -- but the state just closed 31 DMV offices, many in majority black counties, restricting citizens' ability to comply.

I live in Alabama, and people like me are going to have to travel a lot further to take driver's exams or obtain an ID required for voting. There are plenty of other places where Alabama could have cut its budget, but instead, lawmakers decided to make the lives of rural citizens a lot more difficult.

It's ridiculous that the state would put barriers in front of citizens who want to vote in the first place. Restricting their ability to comply with the law even further by shuttering DMV offices makes even less sense, especially when the state funds non-education items like football.
