Etsy needs to protect its sellers

Etsy is a platform where individual makers and sellers are able to market their goods. Etsy states that: "Etsy connects people looking for unique goods with independent sellers around the world. When you shop on Etsy.com, you can choose from millions of items created and curated by millions of independent sellers."

Many of these independent sellers depend on Etsy as their main source of income. Etsy's millions of sellers include teachers, stay-at-home moms and dads, grandmas, and friends. Most Etsy sellers are diligent, good people who depend on Etsy as an outlet to show their goods and to make a living. However, it does not protect its most valuable asset - the makers and sellers - to their best ability.

They have recently raised their fees by over 40% (from 3.5% to 5%). Etsy also charges per each listing.

Etsy does not have a dedicated phone line to help its sellers and it often takes weeks to get a single issue resolved. They do not reply to all emails.

Etsy most often sides with the customer, even if they are in the wrong.

Etsy can close a store without notice, affecting peoples' livelihoods.

Etsy does not have a blocking feature, even for customers who try to scam or lie.

We ask etsy to have a dependable phone line for customer service. We ask Etsy to listen not only to BUYERS, but also to SELLERS. We ask Etsy to make sure reviews are authentic and not vengeful. We ask etsy to stop scammers from ripping normal people off of their hard-earned money.
