End the Workers Compensation Board Financial Abuse of Canadians

If you are a Canadian Tax Payer that uses the medical system, you need to stop Workers Compensation Boards from draining the medical system, Canada Pension Plan, and other federal programs including housing supports and home modification programs.

Workers Compensation Boards have been unloading their fiscal responsibility onto the tax-payer for well over a decade.

Workers Compensation Board surplus amounts in each province are at approximately one Hundred Million annually (x 12 provinces equals huge savings). Workers Compensation Boards donate these resources at their discretion, including renovating universities.

The Harper Government created a new plan for the severely disabled call the RDSP (Registered Disability Savings Plan). This plan is funded by the Federal government in the form of Grants and Bonds annually of up to five thousand dollars ($5000.00) per disabled person. A number of persons who should be receiving a pension from Workers Compensation Boards are not and must file for the Registered Disability Savings Plan.

There is a difference between Equality and Justice, equality for the injured worker and justice to the taxpayer are required immediately.

Statistics example:

British Columbia: Annual Report @worksafebc

Surplus for the year 2014 -- $807,385,000

Income 2014 -- $2,811,638,000

Surplus 2013 -- $621,752.000

Income 2013 $2,790,989,000

Hello and thank-you for your time in reviewing this information.

I belong to a facebook group entitled: "Injustice of Workers Comp YOUR STORY" there are dozens of heart-breaking stories.

My friend Garry has a permanent brain injury (from falling off a roof at work), and has been denied supports, although his claim was originally accepted.

I am also an injured worker.

Financial supports I have had to access from the Federal Government of Canada include:

1) Disability Tax Credit (a tax relief for working people with disabilities).

2) Registered Disability Savings Plan (a pension plan paid for and supported by the Canadian Government for people with disabilities).

My question is this:

Why is the Tax-Payer responsible for covering additional expenses regarding persons with disabilities, if it is a work related injury?

Are the extra costs and burdens on society fair and just to the injured worker, and or the tax-payer?

In our province (Manitoba) the Workers Compensation Board has large surpluses At the end of their fiscal period, monies from that surplus are then reallocated to such projects as the renovation of buildings at The University of Manitoba. Worker’s Compensation Board is clearly neglecting their responsibility to injured workers, since No Fault Insurance has been instituted at the Federal level.

I would request the Federal Government to explore and examine every province's Worker's Compensation Board Policies in direct relation to permanently impaired and (including permanent partially impaired) claims, and the obligation of coverage to the claimant morally and ethically.

At the very least, I believe that Workers Compensation Boards should be covering the FULL cost of $1500.00 (and $5000.00 of Government Grants and Bonds) per year for every permanently injured worker. This will place money back into the medical system, and provide financial relief to the Canadian Taxpayer. If this is explored, it may be a way to inject much needed money back into our medical system.
