The Act of Giving – Bring Back the True Meaning of the Holiday Season

The holiday season is a wonderful time of year, full of giving and abundance. Let's share that abundance by supporting organizations we care about. Families, friends, and loved ones often go the extra mile to spend quality time together. Grandparents shower their grandchildren with presents, and most people put considerable thought into purchasing gifts that others need or would really appreciate.

For many of us though, this holiday season is going to be tougher than most. The political season was long, and it drove a wedge in our close relationships. We are hurting because some close to us voted for Donald Trump - a man who disrespects women and minorities and also threatens to strip away some of our basic human rights.

It’s time to take a step forward together and unite. Let this holiday season bring us together. Let’s bring back the true meaning of the season - which is the time to give.

Pledge to stand with us and take at least one of the actions below:

  • Research organizations that are fighting for the causes you love, and ask that others donate to them in your honor instead of gifting you this year.
  • For your loved ones who aren’t in need, ask them which issues they are most passionate about and make a donation to one of them in their honor.
  • Start a dialogue with others who have different views. Keep an open-mind and try to understand their thoughts.

If we work together, we can effect change. By giving to organizations, we can equip them with the tools they need to support human rights, protect the environment, etc. When you sign, please share the name of the organization(s) you plan to support and share your petition signature socially so that others around the world have the chance to make the same commitment.
