Tell European leaders to cancel the EU-Turkey refugee deal

A few months ago, the EU signed an agreement with Turkey in order to force refugees seeking to enter Europe to return to Turkish territory. Many experts and organizations expressed doubts about the consideration of Turkey as a safe space to accommodate Syrian refugees. And time has proved that they were right: multiple evidence of mistreatment and abuse of refugees by the Turkish authorities have come to light during the last months, and finally, the failed military coup that took place recently is definitely putting refugees into a serious risk.

After the Turkish government managed to stop the coup, far from consolidating the democratic legality, a lot of purges and repressive measures have been taken in order to consolidate the authoritarian rule of President Erdogan, threatening the security and freedom of Turkish citizens and refugees. During the last days, Erdogan is trying to restore the death penalty and has announced the suspension of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Under these conditions, the Turkish government is unable to guarantee any more that Turkey is a safe space where the Human Rights are respected. Therefore, I urge the European leaders to cancel the EU-Turkey agreement regarding refugees and asylum seekers and proceed to give shelter to these refugees in European territory, as they are not safe in Turkish soil any more. Sign this petition and help me to guarantee the safety of thousands of families of refugees that are running away from the war.

Eu Commission and EU Council,

Please proceed to cancel the EU-Turkey agreement regarding refugees and asylum seekers and proceed to give shelter to these refugees in European territory, as they are not safe in Turkish soil any more because of the reppresive measures taken by Erdogan regime.

Thanks.
