Tell FIFA to Clean Up the Pitch, Review Bad Calls Now

Opponents of instant review of important referee judgments claim that the flow of the beautiful game should not be messed with. There are no commercial breaks and no timeouts in world football and that is a good thing!

On the flipside, there has been much criticism of corrupt referees and players—so-called match fixing. For more, read here...

Bad officiating has also gotten lots of attention…

But even the very best referees make mistakes, we all know that. When the consequence of those decisions--decisions that could instantly be reviewed and corrected using today's technology--is fans, players, and coaches who wonder why they invested, time, energy, and money for an unfair result, we have a serious problem.

The beautiful game is suffering not only from corrupt leadership at the highest level but also from questionable calls on the field. It is time for FIFA to clean up its act in all respects, including on the pitch, by instituting instant review of key decisions.

This petition is an opportunity for you to add your voice to the many who care, to let FIFA know how you feel. Your name and address information will used only to petition FIFA. It will not be marketed or sold.

Dear FIFA Leadership,

It is time to use available technology and common sense to review important referee decisions on the pitch.

In the name of the thousands of volunteer coaches and officials who donate time and energy to further the sport they love. In the name of the devoted players and fans, please clean up the pitch.

Use the creativity of the world football community and experience gained from other sports to put an end to the trashy no-calls, unfair penalty kicks, and called-back goals.

As you have done with limited water and injury breaks, find a way to do it without significantly interrupting the rhythm of the game we all love.Thank you for your thoughtful consideration and bold action.
