Church boils lobsters & Bar-B-Q's pigs. Would Jesus do this?

St. Thomas Episcopal Church has a lobsterfest every year to raise funds for medical missions to Honduras and Haiti. Here’s the irony:
Honduran divers are paralyzed by decompression sickness, commonly known as the "bends," which they suffer due to diving for lobsters. So, the thousands of lobsters the church buys for the fund-raiser directly causes serious injury and sometimes, death, to the very people the church thinks it is helping.

There are numerous ways to do harmless and humane fund raising and it seems especially egregious that a Christian institution would be exploiting God’s creation. What Would Jesus Do? Would he boil lobsters?  Would he bar-b-que pigs?

You are encouraged to contact the church and suggest it seek different ways to do fund raising.
