The Ottawa Public libraries of Ottawa Canada have been provideing the community with fantastic educational services for many, many years. So it comes as a shock that there is evident harrasment and a reduction in the quality of services controled by the upper management.
They main point is that they have most recently purchased and provided new laptops(cromebooks) for the in house use,(limited-as they are very expensive!!),to whichthey offer written deception. They have circulated the "Crome Orientation" paper document to all of their locations.Within that document ,I quote,is a line printed saying"3 hour loan will be assigned-10 minute grace period enabled in Symphoney but do not advise customers of this".
Also needing clarrification of the "$5.00/hour"overtime charge as they are charging this for every 15 minutes the laptop is late.
There is also no cutoff automatic time shutdown as all other computers which keeps other clients waiting. And no 10 minute warning of close to 3 hour limit displayed as all the other computers.
This document is not shown or given out to the clients and I fear the employees are becoming distressed by the knowledge of withholding information rightful to be given to the client.
I would also mention that cleaning services of various premises are severly lacking in standards(ie: cleaning of carpets -bathrooms).
They also have a small percentage of cleints regularely asking for bags and yet no bags are provided.May I suggest that a contest page for the children be started to be put on new recycled platic bags that zipper and to have many of these provided on display at every branch.(ie;shoppers drug mart is the bag I use-small,zippered and waterproof with handles.Perhaps we could ask for a corporate sponser to give them a hand?
Also needing the main display page to be enlarged as it is minute.Needing also the regular computers to be able to send emails through website(says host not properly installed) when the crome books do.
And perhaps more securoty for the regular computer system as they advertise the cromebook is "more secure laptop"
The Vanier Libary also needs city service to repair the brickwork below the drop slot in the front of the building.
Would also like that any disc donation be accepted and put on the shelf"as something is better than nothing!".
I have wondered if the city should set up a contract with Canada Post for city daily pick-up from their red secure boxes as many people are unable to bring their items back on time due to sickness ect...Canada Post as well needs the business !!
The city is obligated to have 0 tolerance (firing of course the culprit) of harrasment of any type.
And lastly people have asked for regular day hours 9-6 monday to friday.Suggesting that an early weekday be closed so that they may be able to be open on Sundays(proven to be excellent for clients). This will also help to provide toilet access for our parks for the children on the weekends where there is often none.No more poison ivy on your kids rear.I would hope that they use there power to help bring a city bylaw rapidly that no person that has a business or city run facility deny anyone ever the use of a toilet.
