Premier Palaszczuk: Support Clean Energy Jobs, not Reef-Destroying Coal Mines

  • by: Ann W
  • recipient: Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Regional Mayors

Despite the positive spin proponents are putting forth, the development of the Adani Carmichael Coal Mine will be detrimental to the environment and Australia's economy. Taking such a large amount of coal out of the groun will contribute significantly to climate change and further damage the Great Barrier Reef.

Even if the mine's proponents don't care what happens to the environment, they should care that their protect will damage the region's tourism economy which contributes 5.2 billion  in revenue every year to the Australian economy. Nobody wants to spend money on a vacation in a desecrated area!

Please join in and demand that the Premier and Mayors listen to their constituents who oppose environmentally damaging initiatives and support clean energy jobs instead!

Attn: Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Regional Mayors

We (the undersigned) are asking that you listen to your constituents and NOT develop the Carmichael Mines which will permanently damage the environment and desecrate the Great Barrier Reef. There are other ways to provide energy to the region by using clean energy approaches instead!

The Great Barrier Reef is a worldwide tourist destination and brings in at least 5.2 Billion annually to the Australian economy. So the mines will actually cause a loss in revenue!

Every voice counts and we who oppose these mines are thinking of the immediate and long range issues.
