Let's Create a Memorial to the Elephants that have lost their lives to Ivory Poachers and Hunters

Three years ago, I was visiting my parents' home after several years of not having been there; and I saw a pair of huge elephant tusks in my stepmother's closet. I was sickened.
My stepmother had recently had to go to a nursing home and my father was living alone in the house. I asked him about the tusks and he said he did not know how she had acquired them. He did say that it had still been legal to purchase elephant tusks at the time she obtained them.
My father had had nothing to do with this acquisition.

My stepmother just passed away and there are these two elephant tusks still in the closet. It is illegal to sell them without proof of having purchased them before the ban.
My father has no idea where the receipt and information about this purchase might be. He does not know what to do with the tusks.
I was thinking about this and wondering how many other people might have elephant tusks tucked away somewhere that they will never be able to legally sell. And feeling my initial nausea when I first saw these things.

I wonder if a movement could be organized that could result in a Memorial to all the massacred elephants and have this Memorial made from elephant tusks that people might donate to such a cause. This would require a sculptor and, of course, donations of these tusks, and a proper place for such a Memorial to be erected.
I am reminded of The Wall to those who lost their lives in Viet Nam.
So, I understand that this is not a regular kind of Petition. But I would like to know if others might support this idea and to hear from others as to their thoughts about how we might take action to facilitate this endeavor.
